  28. Perception is a PCI-slot version of the PAR, uses standard SCSI drives, 
  29. so it is capable of higher bandwidth, less compression, and higher 
  30. quality output, plus since it uses standard SCSI drives now, will allow 
  31. more and larger drives. Costs the same as the original PAR. 
  32. The Perception also has a hardware-based real-time circuit that decides 
  33. the optimum compression and block limit during libve video, so the user 
  34. no longer has to fiddle with it, or accept less than optimum levels.
  35. It uses a special daughterboard to capture live video, not the TBC-IV.
  36. The drivers supplied for WindowsNT provide icons for each file format, so 
  37. even fussy graphics software should be able to "see" a Perception 
  38. animation as a group of Targa, BMP, etc. stills.
